Teen Age Parent Support Services (TAPSS)
Our Mission: TAPSS partners with teens as they discover the possibilities for their futures as individuals and/or parents, nurturing life skills and self-efficacy in the context of trusting and safe relationships.
TAPSS offers intensive, long-term case management to young mothers age 13 - 21. Services are home-based and case managers work to address issues such as housing, healthcare, education, employment and parenting. Building positive, trusting relationships with youth is the priority of our staff, as well as helping move teen parents toward positive changes for themselves and their children.
Weekly groups offer education, support, socialization and parenting skills training. Job workshops are also held throughout the year focusing on finding and maintaining employment. Transportation and child care are provided for all groups.
Paid internships with the possibility for future hire are also available to TAPSS clients through collaboration with local businesses.
In-home parenting services are also available to teen parents using the Parents As Teachers curriculum – a nationally recognized model for successful parenting.
