Our Mission: The SPCC WIC Program provides eligible families with a variety of nutritious foods, client-centered nutrition education and breastfeeding support along with referrals to community resources to promote and enhance good health.
SPCC's WIC program (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) serves over 5,000 women, infants and children throughout Ontario, Wayne, Yates, Seneca and Eastern Monroe counties. WIC serves income eligible pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age 5.
Participants receive vouchers for healthy foods such as milk, cheese, eggs, whole grain bread/pasta/tortillas, cereal, peanut butter, dried or canned beans/peas, baby foods, fruits, vegetables and more. WIC also provides infant formula for those babies who are not breastfed. During the summer, families enrolled in WIC are eligible to receive $24 worth of Farmer’s Market Checks. These checks may be used to purchase locally grown produce at participating farmers' markets.
SPCC WIC maintains three permanent offices: Canandaigua, Newark, and Waterloo. In addition to the permanent offices, WIC clinics are held in Penn Yan, Sodus, Wolcott, Geneva, Fairport, and Webster. Evening and early-morning appointments are available.
