Emily received her Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Wyoming and her Master’s degree in Creative Arts Therapy with a specialization in Music Therapy from Nazareth University. Emily’s clinical career has focused on working with children and adolescents along with their families to improve overall health and well-being. Early on she connected with infant mental health principles and that relationships are at the heart of quality services. She aims to see individuals holistically through a trauma informed and culturally sensitive lens. Emily worked as a community-based therapist in SPCC’s family trauma intervention program where she utilized the therapeutic relationship and her authentic self to hold families through some of the most difficult times. Her interests in perinatal and infant-early childhood mental health led her to become a trained birth doula in hopes of providing support and improving caregiver and child mental health throughout the first five years. Emily values her professional and personal relationships as she continues to learn and grow in the context of others. Her greatest joy and learning experiences have come from her role as a mother which further fuels her passion for sharing and teaching IECMH to others in the Rochester community.
