TITLE: Therapist – Family Trauma Intervention Program  (FTIP) 

REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor

HOURS: Monday-Friday daytime (Weekends and evening availability also expected). Hourly pay range: $27.65 – $29.09

JOB SUMMARY: Provides home-based counseling services to children of all ages and their families, for whom the children are at risk of foster care placement, have experienced severe abuse or a recent fatality, and/or where trauma, including exposure to domestic violence, has been a major disruption to family life.  General goals of the program include child well-being and relationship repair. Attachment Theory and Psychodynamic theoretical underpinnings are woven into a variety of evidenced based and trauma informed practices, and candidates must demonstrate working knowledge of these frameworks.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provides direct home-based services to children (ages 0-18) and their parents which will include the following interventions: Child-Parent Psychotherapy; Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; play therapy; family therapy; parent skills-training; and supportive case management.
  • Conducts formal and informal assessments for families referred to the program to determine clinical needs.
  • Establishes safety plans for all families as needed.
  • Manages referrals and coordinates with the Monroe County Department of Human Services, including Child Protective Services and the Preventive Unit.
  • Completes Family Assessment and Service Plans (FASPs) and progress notes in the NYS Connections system as required by OCFS and MCDHS.
  • Compiles and submits monthly statistics to FTIP Clinical Supervisor.
  • Performs administrative tasks which will include maintaining accurate, up-to-date records on all referrals and open cases, as well as all necessary records and reports.
  • Collaborates with community agencies and contacts to facilitate optimal working relationships with potential referral resources.
  • Participate and engage in all levels of individual and group supervision while positively contributing to an effective team dynamic.
  • Exemplifies a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion work and delivering services within a trauma-informed and equitable lens.
  • Attends mandatory trainings, as well as program management and community meetings.
  • Accompanies/transports clients to services, when applicable.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), Social Work (LCSW, LMSW), Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT), Psychology (licensed) or a related license-eligible field with a minimum of two years of experience working with trauma, children, and families.
  • Must be licensed or license eligible within 6-months of employment.
  • Familiar with the psycho-social aspects of child maltreatment, attachment, and multi-cultural issues.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to operate as a competent therapist in child development, trauma, and attachment from a family systems perspective.
  • Experience with Child Parent Psychotherapy and/or trauma focused clinical practices preferred.
  • Candidate will ideally possess an interest, passion and/or experience working with infants, young children 0-6 years old, and their families, from an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) perspective.  Upon hire, candidate will be provided with additional IECMH training.

The Candidate must possess a valid NYS driver’s license with a good driving record and carry agency required levels of automobile liability insurance.
